Notescast Cheat Sheet - Folder & File Organizing

Here’s a summary on file and folder organization when writing Notescasts…

FOLDERS

To list a FOLDER at the bottom of a menu
    Put an * before the folder name – The * does not appear on the iPod

To list a FOLDER at the top of a menu    
    Put a space at the beginning of the folder name or
    Place an “A” into the folder name.  i.e. “A Favorite Yosemite Hike”

To list a FOLDER in numerical order
    Use a convention similar to “1)” or “1 – “.  

    To force “10” to appear after “9”, place an * before the “10” in the folder name.  i.e. “*10”


FILES

To list a FILE at the top of an iPod menu
    Put a * before the name of the Notescast page (The .txt file)
        i.e.         
                or

    Put a space before the name of the Notescast page
        i.e.
                or

    Place an “A” into the file name.  i.e. “A Favorite Yosemite Hike”

To list a FILE in numerical order
    Use a convention similar to “1)” or “1 – “.  

    To force “10” to appear after “9”, insert a space before numbers 1 through 9 when writing your HTML title tag.
